2014 Lady of the Glen Blair Athol Single Cask #312607 8 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

We're agreed with Gregor Hannah who believes this fledgling was bottled at exactly the right time to preserve distillery character. Decanted from a very active re-coopered hogshead made from ex-bourbon barrel staves, no secondary maturation took place. It is one of the finer Blair Athols tasted to date. There is a precision to the combination of fruit, oils and spirit heat. Some of the youthful spices have been retained, but they're far from intimidating and mixed up with flavours of pineapple pudding and vanilla cream. A succulence at the finish is heightened with a few drops of water. 58.6% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 299 bottles.
