2014 Piper-Heidsieck Vintage Champagne
Founded in 1785, Piper-Heidsieck has a long history of excellence and innovation in blending exceptional wines. Chef de Cave Emilien Boutillat reflects this in the entire range of champagnes. The 2014 vintage benefited from an early spring and a warm Indian summer, resulting in crisp Chardonnays and sophisticated Pinots Noirs. Sourced from 19 crus, including 87% Grands and Premiers Crus, this blend was aged on lees for over 5 years. Expect elegant aromas of orange blossom, apricot, brioche, and toasted almond, with flavors of tangerine, lime zest, and licorice on the palate.

Showing nicely complex notes of figs, red apples, golden pears, walnuts and lemon conserve on toast, with a touch of beeswax. It’s medium-bodied, with bright acidity and a textured, phenolic palate. Tight bubbles. Dry feel. 55% pinot and 45% chardonnay. 7g/L dosage. Delicious now.

A seamless Champagne, finely textured and showing a creamy viscosity on the palate. This vibrant version winds a subtle, toasty thread of brioche and roasted almond through flavors of black currant, dried apricot and candied lemon peel. Mouthwatering and lightly chalky on the finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2029.
