2015 Akitu A1 Central Otago Pinot Noir

The fruit for the A1 was fermented with 26% whole bunches and matured in French oak (22% new) for a period of 10 months. Only 230 dozen were produced.

Semi translucent dark cherry red colour with a bright crimson hue. The perfumed nose delivers intoxicating aromas of violets, red & dark cherries and strawberries subtlety infused with hints of anise, subtle dried meats and lightly smoked spicy cedar. Light in body the palate possesses wonderful richness, elegance and length with flavours of red and dark cherries, strawberries and spice running across the palate like liquid silk. Savoury nuances of anise, lightly smoked cedar, some meatiness and dried herbs are also evident. Contains a superb power wave of flavour within a supple mouthfeel and finely grained, velvet like tannin structure. Long aftertaste of spicy red cherries, dark cherries, strawberries, subtle anise, dried meats and spicy cedar.
