2015 Cape Mentelle Single Vineyard Shiraz

Midnight black in colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Elevated liquorice and blackberry aromas meld into earthy dried meat notes, smoky vanillin cedar and spicy blackpepper. Medium bodied and elegant in its feel, seamlessly integrated flavours of liquorice, blackberries, lightly toasted vanillin cedar, earth, dried meats and blackpepper fill the mouth. Quite polished yet structural tannins. Refined peppery aftertaste of liquorice, smoky vanillin cedar, earthy dried meats and spice.

Hand-picked from Block 5 of the Trinders Vineyard, destemmed, lightly crushed, 50 days on skins after fermentation, matured for 20 months in 80% French and 20% American oak. Exceptional attention to detail manifested by the very expensive X-ray optical scanning of every berry passing by on a moving belt, and the simultaneous removal of imperfect berries by a tiny jet of air. The wine has remarkable elegance, purity and energy. Drink by 2035.
