2015 DV by Chateau Doisy-Vedrines Sauternes (375ml)

Doisy-Védrines is a 2ème Cru Classé Sauternes property located in Barsac which has been owned by the Casteja family since 1946. The estate’s 27 hectares of vineyards are situated on the highest plateau in Barsac and are planted with 80% Sémillon, 15% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. The yields are painfully low, even by Sauternes standards, producing some of the richest and most full bodied wines in Barsac. Curiously the estate uses the Sauternes AC rather than the Barsac one. DV is their second label.

A Sauternes that offers exceptional value combining intense, lusciously textured, honey drenched fruit with cleansing fresh acidity.

Brilliant straw colour with greenish pale gold edges and a watery hue. Potent aromatics of honeyed ripe apricots and peaches waft from the glass with subtle scents of marmalade, sweet ripe pineapple and spice also evident. Rich, concentrated and lusciously textured yet with a resounding sense of freshness on the finish, the mouth is filled with honey drenched peaches and apricots over a back drop of marmalade infusions and light spice. Concludes with cleansing acidity and a long luscious aftertaste of honeyed apricot, peaches, dried pineapple, notions of marmalade and subtle spice.
