2015 Gestalt Serotina Grenache Shiraz

Gestalt have produced an excellent early drinking red without the excess crunchiness that seems to be creeping in to so many other new release reds designed for early consumption. Fruit is sourced from a tiny patch of 50 year old bush vine Grenache and 30 year old Shiraz vines. The grapes are harvested very early then fermented and handled with extreme care to capture the qualities of the fruit. The wine then spends only a short time in very old French oak barrels before blending and bottling.

Fresh and bright but not crunchy with beautiful fruit purity and a slippery textural feel

Deep bright dark red colour with a crimson purple hue. Fragrant aromas of ripe raspberries, ripe red cherries, plum juice, subtle liquorice and spice. Light and supplely textured the palate is filled with delicious, juicy flavours of freshly crushed dark raspberries, plums, subtle liquorice and faint spice. Very moreish with velvet smooth tannins and a bright fresh finish. Excellent length with a long ripe dark raspberry, plum, liquorice and light spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
