2015 Journeys End Vineyards Naturist Chardonnay

Even though the majority of this wine was matured in neutral oak, with only a small proportion in new 'Vicard' French oak barriques, the end result is a fairly full bodied style that will only fill out further with time. Winemaker Ben Riggs has added back an additional 10% of tank fermented juice to provide freshness and vibrancy to the final wine.

Brilliant pale straw colour with a glimmer of green to the straw coloured edges and a watery hue. Pronounced aromatics of ripe peaches and apricots layered with honeycomb and a hint of bacon fat drift out of the glass followed by citrusy nougat and spice. Good palate weight and richness boasting a creamy textured mouthfeel and generous flavours of ripe peaches, apricots, honeycomb, traces of butterscotch, nougat, light cashew and spice. Clean dry, balanced finish with good fresh acidity. Medium to long aftertaste of ripe peaches, apricots, honeycomb, nougat, a touch of butterscotch and spicy cashew. A very well made, texturally rich style of Chardonnay.
