Vincent Pinard is one of the most innovative and dedicated producers of the Loire Valley. He has 10 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 2.5 hectares of Pinot Noir, planted mainly on the hard chalky land of the commune of Bué.
Brilliant pale straw colour with faint flecks of green around the edges and a watery hue. Lifted lime scents delicately infused with fresh herbs are followed by some citrus, subtle elements of wet stone and some spicy grass like end notes. Quite mouthfilling with good body weight and a zippy freshness to the finish the palate sports a flavour profile of lime and green apples over fresh herb infusions, subtle wet stone, a light herbaceous grassiness and spice. Dry finish with refreshing acidity and a long aftertaste of lime and green apples infused with fresh herbs, a subtle grassiness, wet stone and spice.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews…
A slightly restrained nose, but there’s real potential here. A little more pithy but with some nice marmalade and orange blossom hints. The palate has real citrus fruit freshness and drive, with a long and crunchy finish. Drink 2017-2022.
