Dense inky black colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Pronounced aromas of liquorice, blackberry and dark chocolate overlay subtly toasted vanillin oak, earth and spicy mocha notes. Rich opulent liquorice, blackberry and dark chocolate flavours are backed by some fairly prominent toasty vanillin oak, earth and spice characters. Ripe chewy tannins with a lingering toasty vanillin oak element to the medium length aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Open and static fermenters, a mix of whole bunches/whole berries and destemmed/crushed grapes, 20 days on skins, matured in French oak (30% new) for 14 months, followed by 4 months in older oak. Long and very well balanced. Drink by 2041.
