2016 Cercius Cotes du Rhone
Fabulously juicy with a real explosion of fruit.
Cercius is a joint venture between Michel Gassier, famed Rhone consultant Philippe Cambie and American importer Eric Solomon. Totally opaque black dark red core with a dark red hue. Pronounced black raspberry and liquorice aromas waft from the glass followed by black cherry liqueur and earthy incense like notes with a whiff of spice also evident. Rich, succulent black raspberry, ripe black cherry, liquorice and black plum flavours form an opulent core of fruit that completely floods the mouth. Lush, rich and concentrated, savoury elements of lightly scorched earth and spice also chip in. Velvet smooth tannins. Long finish of black raspberries, earthy black cherries, liquorice, subtle dried herbs and spice. Fantastic value.
Drink this seductive beauty over the next 3-4 years.

Other Reviews….
A Grenache-dominated blend that includes 13% Syrah and 12% Mourvèdre, the 2016 Côtes du Rhône Cercius is one big, mouthful of a wine that gives up huge notes of blackberries, peppery, roasted herbs and violets, Voluptuous, opulent and sexy, with no hard edge, sweet tannin, and a huge finish, it's a terrific wine.
