2016 Chateau Corbin
Other Reviews....
The 2016 Corbin is a blend of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc picked between 5-22 October at 48 hectoliters per hectare and matured in 45% new oak. It has an attractive bouquet, well defined black cherries, briary and undergrowth scents, real character here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin threaded through layers of crisp, slightly toasty fruit and a dash of spice towards the focused finish. This is an excellent Saint Emilion that should be "singing" once in bottle.

This delivers a straightforward albeit inviting core of warm cassis and boysenberry preserve flavors, with a polished feel throughout. Licorice-coated finish.

Dense and powerful with lots of tannins and ripe fruit. Full-bodied, layered and impressed. A little extracted. But should come around nicely.

Powerful, dense and explosive, the 2016 Corbin offers striking depth and intensity in a forward, fruit-driven style that holds considerable near- and medium-term appeal. A rush of dark cherry, chocolate, spice and new leather round out this racy, inviting Saint-Émilion. The 2016 will see about 45% new oak. Michel Rolland is the consultant at Corbin. Tasted two times.
