Beaujolais is home to the Gamay grape, and can be made in styles ranging from light and fruity Beaujolais Nouveau, through to more weighty, intense and structured Beaujolais Cru wines. In the middle of that sits Beaujolais Villages, where the wines are light to medium weight and full of juicy fruit. Georges Duboeuf is the most recognisable producer in the region, making wines at all levels and using all of the Cru sites.

Shows good depth of colour with a dark red purple core, black tinged edges and a bright crimson purple hue. Fragrant macerated cherry and ripe raspberry aromas tinged with incense and hints of earth are followed by some light spice end notes. Light in body but generously fruited, ripe red and dark cherry flavours along with some raspberries give it a very easy going appearance. Subtle injections of earthy incense characters and fresh herbs are also apparent. Supple mouthfeel finishing dry with vibrant acidity and velvety tannins. Concludes with ripe cherries, raspberries, subtle earth and spice.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
Alc. 12.5%

Other Reviews...
A bright and juicy red with plum and cherry character throughout. Medium body, tangy acidity and a crisp finish. Linear and delicious. Drink on release.
