2016 Heathcote Estate Single Vineyard Shiraz

The exceptional 2016 vintage has produced what could possibly be Heathcote Estate’s finest Shiraz yet. Five individual vineyard blocks and their various sections were handled separately in the winery creating 11 unique batches of wine. Maturation took place in French oak, 20% new, for a period of 11 months.

A big, rich, robust Heathcote Shiraz that’s exceptionally concentrated and tightly packed.

Superb colour saturation displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Pronounced liquorice and fresh blackberry aromas are followed by hints of black cherries, vanillin cedar, light scorched earth notes and blackpepper. Rich and opulent yet chewy and structured, lavish liquorice, blackberry and black cherry fruit engulfs the palate sitting comfortably atop scorched earth, spicy vanillin cedar, subtle black olive and blackpepper elements. Exceptionally powerful with stern, firmly built tannins giving the framework some grip. Very long and chewy aftertaste.
