Made from a distillate including cumin, dill seeds and coriander, its robust character with hints of orange, almond and coriander is a taste that impressed the judges at the International Spirits Challenge, where Jule Akvavit received the highest award.

The style suits virtually all traditional Danish Christmas food - from marinated herring and salmon to roast pork, liver pate and meatballs. And then it's great for pampering a Christmas mulled wine. Since its launch in December 1982, the alcohol percentage has remained exactly 47%, which corresponds to 8 degrees of 'spendrup' - the unit of measurement for alcohol in the late 1800s. Only the bottle design has changed from year to year while maintaining a Christmas theme.
