2017 Gilligan Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre

This will be the final vintage produced of Gilligan. Owner Leigh Gilligan has sold the vineyard and decided to settle into retirement. Excellent depth of colour displaying a totally opaque black dark red core with a dark red black tinged hue. Fragrant aromatics of dark ripe raspberries, black cherries and liquorice show good elevation over vanillin oak, hints of scorched earth, dark chocolate and spice. Rich, velvety dark raspberry, dark plum and liquorice flavours tinged with traces of dark chocolate create a juicy feel. Elements of vanillin oak, subtle earth and spice are in the background. Good volume in the mouth with supplely textured tannins. Great power with a long spicy ripe dark raspberry, liquorice, dark plum, dark chocolate and lightly earthed vanillin oak aftertaste. A fitting swansong.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
