2017 M.Chapoutier Domaine Bila-Haut Occultum Lapidem

Midnight black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Nosing reveals barnyard like top notes with graphite, smoked meat, earthy leather and pepper notes also evident. The palate is much cleaner than the nose putting on a full show of rich chewy black fruits. Black cherry and liquorice infused with graphite overlay scorched earth, dried meats, dried herbs and blackpepper. Muscular tannin structure with a long firmly built aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

The 2017 Côtes Du Roussillon Villages Latour De France Occultum Lapidem is ripe and sexy, with lots of blackberry, licorice, ground herbs, and pepper aromas and flavors. It's rich and medium to full-bodied, with beautiful ripeness and character and a great finish. Drink 2020-2028.
