2017 M. Chapoutier Les Arenes Cornas

Totally opaque midnight black in colour with a dark red hue. Black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry aromas make a strong showing out of the glass followed by some scorched earth, dried herb and peppered meat notes. Fleshy black raspberry and liquorice fruits carry good richness and medium body weight across the palate with some black cherry, scorched earth and peppered dried meat elements lying underneath. Slightly chewy yet civilised tannins. The long refined black fruited finish laced with peppered earth characters.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

The 2017 Cornas Les Arênes is more rounded, with plenty of black raspberry, currants, spice, crushed flowers, pepper, and gamey aromas and flavors. Rounded, supple, and sexy on the palate, with terrific depth and richness, it packs plenty of depth, structure, and length. Drink 2022-2032.
