2017 Nicks Secret Pyrenees Cabernet

With a history dating back over 50 years this iconic Pyrenees producer has earned a reputation for producing sturdily built Cabernets that develop a Bordeaux like finesse with bottle age. For the 2017 vintage maturation took place in French oak barriques for a period 18 months.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Delightful red to black currant and ripe mulberry scents sweep through the nostrils with enchanting effect, complimented by some well integrated spicy vanillin cedar, delicate tobacco, earth and dried herb notes. Still retaining an abundance of rich red to dark fruit, the refined palate has mellowed wonderfully with bottle age. Red to black currant and mulberry flavours overlay a cedary tobacco, subtle earthy black olive, dried herb and spice back drop. Providing the framework are seamlessly integrated, fine grained tannins which carry a sturdy underbelly. The long, polished conclusion showing a real sense of finesse.
