100% whole berry fermentation with 10 months maturation in French oak. Semi translucent luminous bright red colour with black tinged edges and a vibrant red hue. Perfumed violet like scents intermix with ripe red cherries, strawberries and red raspberries followed by light anise and spicy cedar notes. Light in body the palate has juicy cherry, ripe red raspberry and strawberry flavours which are underpinned by faint forest floor and spicy cedar. Supple mouthfeel velvety tannins and a medium length aftertaste. Quite flavoursome but a touch simplistic.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.7%
Tried this at the winery a couple of months ago, and it’s settling into bottle very well. The Henk vineyard is in Woori Yallock.
Red cherry, red fruits, spice, vanilla and flowers. Fresh, pretty style of wine, almost delicate, with sappy red fruits, a smudge of fine grained tannin, balanced acidity, and a bright but savoury finish of good length. Thoroughly charming.
Drink 2018-2027.
