2017 Powell & Son Grenache Shiraz Mataro

A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Shiraz and 20% Mataro matured for 15 months in 2500 litre French oak foudres. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Heady black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry aromas waft out of the glass trailed by scorched earth, vanillin cedar and peppered herb notes. Rich black raspberry, black plum, liquorice and black cherry fruits are voluptuous in their feel. Lying underneath are elements of scorched earth, vanillin cedar and spicy pepper characters. Outstanding power and concentration with velvety tannins and a long plush black fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
