2018 30 Mile Shiraz

30 Mile wines are produced by John Quarisa who is probably best known for his Johnny Q label. During his extensive winemaking career John has picked up some of Australia’s top awards including the Jimmy Watson and Stodart trophies. The 2018 30 Mile Shiraz has already collected three gold medals and a five star rating from Winestate magazine.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Generous aromas of liquorice and ripe blackberry drift from the glass followed by hints of vanilla, earth and spice. Rich, plush and possessing surprising depth despite its modest price, the palate is awash with ripe blackberry, liquorice  and dark plum fruit. Undertones of vanillin oak and spicy earth are also apparent. Velvet smooth tannins lead into an opulently textured aftertaste of unexpected length. Soft and dark fruited, this is amazingly good value.
