2018 Arnaud Lambert Saint Cyr En Bourg Les Terres Rouge

Arnaud Lambert is considered to be one of the most talented winemakers in Loire regularly producing what are amongst the best wines in and around Saumur. Practicing bio-dynamic viticulture and bringing a Burgundian approach to his winemaking, his Cabernet Francs are perfumed, fresh and make for delicious drinking over the warmer months.

Fruit for this wine is sourced from 45 year old vines planted in red silty clay soil over limestone base with a warmer west facing exposition. Its 100% destemmed and fermented with partial whole berries with indigenous yeast in tank after separating free run and press juices with no sulphur added for ageing and just 1 mg sulphur added at bottling after 8 months in tank. Certified organic.
Opaque dark red black core with a bright purple red hue. A perfumed bouquet made up of violets, red currants, crushed dark cherries and aromatic herbs fills the nostrils with hints of inky earth and spice also evident. Juicy ripe red currant and dark cherry flavours infused with violets and herbs du Provence flood the medium bodied palate over a subtle back drop of inky earth and spice. Vibrant acidity underpins the expressive ripe red fruits with faintly grainy tannins and a long, very moreish aftertaste. Pure pleasure and a joy to drink young.
