Bright pale straw to straw colour with a subtle tinge of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Elevated peach, nectarine and subtle grapefruit aromatics are followed by dried honey and light gun flint notes. The mid weighted palate shows good flesh and richness with nectarine, white peach and delicate grapefruit flavours combining with citrus, traces of nougat and infusions of gun flint. Finishes with a burst of fresh acidity on the medium length aftertaste. Will build texturally with bottle age.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews….
Fruit off two sites in Wallcliffe and Karridale, hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild fermentation but no malo, in French oak, 50% new, and on lees 7 months. The sweet oak is apparent and needs to calm down to allow the fruit to come to the fore. Hint of peach, pink grapefruit, lots of spicy nuances and flavoursome, with a palate that's not mean but certainly lean from the shot of acidity. Appealing though. Drink by 2025.
