Magnificent colour featuring a saturated inky black core and a very deep bright dark red black tinged hue. Freshly crushed blackcurrant and cassis like aromas oversee a bay leaf, cedary tobacco character, light black olive and spice back drop. Rich blackcurrant fruits dominate yet the palate remains poised and elegant with an undercard of bay leaf, earth, vanillin cedar and spicy tobacco. Bright youthful acidity and firmish tannins back the fruit imparting a chalky feel. Concludes with a bright medium length aftertaste. Needs time.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews…..
When you’re getting on a bit, the small grey text on charcoal at the side of the label is very hard to read. My glasses! Without them, I’m helpless! Except I don’t wear glasses. Anyway, this is the Cabernet debut from Rob & Genevieve Mann from the Calgardup vineyard in Redgate. Planted in 2002. Organic viticulture. Tannin. The final frontier for Australian wine, and here we boldly go. Split infinitives and superlatives to surely follow. Blackcurrant, dried herbs, nori, flowers. Medium-bodied, ample fruit, but dry and controlled, rolls of deep earthy and gravelly tannin, savoury flavours in the main, and a long finish, freshened with raspberry pip acidity. Beautiful expression of Cabernet here. Drink 2022-2035+
