2018 Crawford River BETA Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
Fermented in French oak and aged on lees. Bright straw colour with green tinged edges and a watery hue. Aromas of ripe pear mix with lime and subtle honeyed scents followed by some lees, grassy asparagus notes and flinty minerals. Rich, full and textured the palate is awash with spiced pear, red apple and ripe lime fruits. Some grassy asparagus, lees and oyster shell like characters linger in the background. Dry well rounded finish with nicely balanced acidity and a long generous aftertaste.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews…..
Sauvignon blanc and semillon, wild fermented, in oak and bottled unfined. Geez, this is a wine on the rise and rise.
Textural feast! A chewy, chalky (terracotta?!) number with tropical fruits, green melon, cashew and minty herbs in the mix. Potent and yet refreshing, a wine that feels very serious, structural and yet a mellow, nougat/mallow like smoothness under it all. Depth and richness with lift. Feels very fancy, delicious to drink and one to savour or pause on. Love it. Drink 2022-2029.
