Certified biodynamic and organic. Bright straw colour with a watery hue. Intense ripe pear, baked apple and honeycomb scents flood the nostrils with some crème brulee and spice notes also in attendance. Rich luscious pear and ripe apple fruits drive the palate underscored by a vivid freshness. Citrusy honeycomb like characters, quince and subtle ginger lie on the back half. Finishes dry with lively acidity providing lovely tension to the long remarkably focused aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews….
Wettolsheim is one of the most delightful wine villages going around and holds a great memory for me – a morning jog in the rain through the town and out into the countryside. The jog thing, a rarity, the grey morning light and bucolic scenery spilling out everywhere… pretty darn magic. The jog, less magic. Meanwhile, here’s an organic gris from Barmes-Buecher’s Wettolsheim vineyard.

Traditional Alsace fare, oily texture, sizzle of acidity, rich scents and flavours of just ripe pear, some cinnamon spice, a faint honeycomb note. While relatively opulent this is refreshing too, and the finish tightens up beautifully and to a chalky pucker followed by mouth-watering tang. Feels detailed and structured – a white wine really cared for in cellar from good vineyard source. Very good gear here. Classic and classy. Drink 2021-2030.
