2018 Evans & Tate Redbrook Estate Shiraz
Pours an impenetrable inky black colour with a very deep black dark red hue. Intense black cherry and liquorice aromas meld into scorched earth, dried meat, vanillin cedar and blackpepper notes. Rich fleshy black cherry, liquorice and blackberry fruits drive the weighty palate with scorched earth, smoky vanillin cedar and peppered dried meat elements adding character to the back half. Ripe chewy mouthfeel with velvet like tannins and a long generously fruited black pepper laced finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews….
Vines planted in '75. 80% whole bunch ferment, all pressings included, 13 months in French oak, 13% new. Licorice, violets, stems, nuts and black cherries. It puts on a complex display, seamless, too, its soft fruit and texture pulling a wide gamut of flavours along for the ride. Tannin is incredibly fine-grained and its nutty length has plenty going for it. This is a mid-weight shiraz with a whole lot to offer. Drink by 2032.
