2018 Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny Les Noirots Premier Cru
Other Reviews....
Once again firm reduction flattens the underlying fruit at present. Otherwise there is impressive volume and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess a velvety mid-palate that contrasts considerably with the robust and borderline rustic finale that is supported by very firm tannins. This offers fine development potential but it's not likely to make for especially interesting early drinking. Drink through 2033+.

The second rendition of this cuvée to date is the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Noirots, a wine that comes from a small parcel of vines that are more than 60 years old, formerly blended into the domaine's Chambolle-Musigny Village. Revealing aromas of cherries, cassis and raspberries framed by rich soil tones and hints of burning embers, it's a medium to full-bodied, fine-boned wine that's lively and precise, with—as was the case last year—a more mineral profile than the Beaux Bruns that preceded it.

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Noirots 1er Cru is a small cuvée of just two barrels (two years old). It has a very pixelated bouquet of perfumed red cherry and raspberry preserve aromas laced with rose petals and crushed stone. Saturated tannins render this quite fleshy on the midpalate, though it firms up toward the structured, grippy finish. Very fine. Drink 2023-2038.

Bright fresh dense purple colour, but very little nose. Blackberry and maybe even some blackcurrant. Not showing the same detail as other wines at this point. This may come later, but I suspect this will remain one of the less nuanced cuvées.
