2018 Giaconda Nebbiolo
Other Reviews....
This 2018 Nebbiolo has hit the trifecta of tannin, acid and fruit—the all-too-difficult-to-achieve trinity of texture, flavor and sensation. The wine is savory and plush, with a plume, nay, a cloud of ripe tannins that prop up the fruit. Texturally, this is on point. Bull's-eye. For me, the fruit feels quite ripe, and I do prefer a little restraint in this regard, but if it’s a matter of pulling early and sacrificing tannins or staying longer and achieving that silty flow, then I guess you know what I'm going to say. The tannins in this wine are everything, and in a couple more years, the fruit will have morphed to the point where the ripeness will fade into the background. Very smart. Drink 2024 - 2038.
