2018 Guigal Cotes du Rhone

Black as night core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Spicy ripe black cherry and liquorice aromas intermix with dried herb, earthy dried meat and pepper notes. Rich and full, luscious black cherry, liquorice and black raspberry fruits drive the palate underscored by dried herbs, scorched earth and peppered meats. Slightly grippy finish with ripe chewy tannins and a lengthy peppered dried herb infused aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

I’m always amazed at the quality this estate gets in the Côtes du Rhône, especially at the quantities produced. Their 2018 Côtes Du Rhône is well worth seeking out and has a medium-bodied, round, silky style as well as textbook peppery herbs, violets, bouquet garni, and both red and black fruits. It shows the supple, charming, forward style of the vintage and is ideal for drinking over the coming 4-5 years. Drink 2022-2027.
