2018 Juniper Cornerstone Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon
Aged in French oak for 20 months. Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Sailing from the glass are pronounced blackcurrant, liquorice and cigar box aromas which are trailed by some black olive, earth and dried bay leaf notes. Rich blackcurrant, ripe mulberry and liquorice fruits carry ample weight and flesh across the palate. Cedary tobacco, dried herb, black olive, earth and spice characters ensue. Firm and boldly structured it has sturdy tannins finishing long, deeply fruited and quite robust.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews….
It wears its (sub)regional stamp brilliantly as it flaunts violets, mulberries, mocha, freshly rolled tobacco and damp earth. It’s just wonderful. There’s more. The palate is layered with cedary oak and raw silk/slightly powdery tannins. Rather savoury, lightly spiced and finishes with precision and terrific length. Drink by 2038.
