A blend of 50% Grenache, 31% Shiraz and 19% Mataro with maturation taking place in older French oak barrels for a period of 30 months. Fruit was sourced from vines varying in age from 18 to 123 years old, with some Grenache coming from old, dry grown bush vines, planted in 1895, located in the Kalimna district. The Shiraz and Mataro adding depth and complexity to the blend.
Deep black dark red in colour with a dark red hue. Heady liquorice, dark raspberry and black cherry aromas fill the nostrils with vanillin oak, subtle scorched earth and spice scents also chiming in. Rich, concentrated and very plush in it’s texture, lavish black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry flavours saturate the palate. Vanillin oak, scorched earth and spice elements sit underneath. Velvet like tannins with a long opulent, silky smooth aftertaste.
Drink this succulent beauty over the next 3-4 years.
