2018 Nicks Secret BFD Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon
From the same producer as the 2020 Nicks Secret BFD Reserve Barossa Shiraz comes this terrific Barossa Cabernet that’s presented in a formidably sized Napa Valley styled bottle.
Barossa’s trademark richness meets Cabernet Sauvignon refinement.
Magnificent colour density featuring an impenetrable midnight black heart along with a very deep dark red black hue. The nostrils are filled with red to black currant, liquorice and mulberry aromas which are complimented by vanillin cedar, earthy tobacco, dried herb and spice notes. Combining Barossa’s trademark richness with Cabernet Sauvignon’s refined feel, the palate is layered with blackcurrant, plum and liquorice fruits. Cedary tobacco, dried herb, dusty earth and spice characters extend across the back half. Fine grained yet sturdily built tannin structure. Concludes long with a degree of finesse not normally associated with Barossa Cabernet.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 15%
Other Reviews.....
Solid and bold Barossa cabernet, packed with blackcurrants and cassis, met in full force by dense, dark chocolate oak. It holds itself with composure, thanks to a rigid mesh of impressively fine-grained tannins and well-pitched acidity, maintaining confidence and assurance through a long finish. Unashamedly Barossan yet unmistakably cabernet. Patience. Drink by 2038.
