2018 Scion Durif

Matured in French oak (30% new) for a period of 19 months. Super saturated inky black in colour with a very deep black dark red hue. Lifted black cherry and liquorice aromas are married to vanillin cedar, earth and spicy pepper notes. Rich, concentrated black and morello cherry fruits as well as liquorice flood the mouth backed by a robust tannin structure. Vanillin cedar, scorched earth and pepper elements linger on the back half. Opulent yet grippy mouthfeel with bright acidity and a long stern black fruited finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
