2018 Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Malbec
Nestled high in the foothills of the Andes, Terrazas de los Andes takes its name from the “terrazas”, a series of terraced plateaus at the foothills of the Andes mountain range, scattered over altitudes ranging from 800 to 1,800 metres. Sourced from variety of vineyards located in the Mendoza sub regions of Lujan de Cuyo and Uco Valley with vines aged between 20 to 90 years, the 2018 Reserva Malbec was aged in French oak for 12 months.
Totally opaque inky black at its core with a deep dark red black hue. Alluring scents of dark to black cherry, liquorice, blackcurrant and blueberry sail through the nostrils with some scorched earth, dried herb and spicy cedar notes also evident. Deeply fruited yet also refined and structured the palate is awash with black cherry, blackcurrant and liquorice flavours with a mixture of dried herbs, scorched earth, black olive and spicy cedar lying underneath. Sturdy tannins impart definition. Finishes with a long, spicy darked fruited aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews….
This is very reserved and polished with blackberries, smoke and sesame. Medium body. Delicious, soft finish. Nice transition from the 2017. Drink or hold.
