2018 Thorn-Clarke Bona Fide Shiraz
With a Barossa heritage going back six generations the Thorn-Clarke family should know a thing or two about producing top notch Shiraz. Sourced from estate vineyards, this wine supposedly has a retail price of $70 which to be truthful is overpriced. However, with the winery looking to clear the deck of remaining stocks, at just $20 it’s a completely different story. For those looking for a rich, super plush and powerful Barossa Shiraz this represents exceptional everyday drinking.
Rich, powerful and voluptuous Barossa Shiraz, that at just $20 is without a doubt a bona fide bargain!
Dense inky black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Possessing terrific intensity out of the glass the nose offers up a hedonistic sniff of liquorice, dark plum and vanillin oak trailed by notions of mocha, subtle earth and spice. Rich and voluptuously textured, the full bodied palate is drenched with lavish blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits which meld into background of vanillin oak, mocha and spicy earth. Smooth, satin like tannins. Concentrated and super plush it finishes long, opulent and silky with power to burn.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 14.8%
Other Reviews….
Sweetly ripe and gracefully rich, the wine shows dark berry, vanillin oak, warm spice and game characters on the nose with a hint of dark cocoa. The concentrated palate delivers succulent fruit flavours and plump mouthfeel, finishing persistent and velvety. Gorgeously harmonious and soothing with layers of delicious flavours. At its best: now to 2033.
