Bodegas Caro is a co-venture between the great First Growth Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Argentina’s Catena. The Amancaya blend represents a perfect harmony of New World inventiveness with Old World tradition. Crafted from Malbec vines using the best French cooperage and blended skillfully from a broad range of clonal material and altitudes, along with a good splash of Cabernet to provide structure for keeping.

A blend of the old and new world where Bordeaux meets Mendoza.

Made from a mix of 64% Malbec and 36% Cabernet Sauvignon with 50% of the wine matured in French oak barrels for a period of 12 months, the balance matured in concrete vats. Midnight black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Rising from the glass are ripe blackcurrant, dark plum and black cherry scents which mix with vanillin cedar, dried herb and tobacco notes. Rich and concentrated the medium to full bodied palate is flooded with blackcurrant, dark plum and liquorice fruit. Lurking underneath are spicy vanillin cedar, dried herb and subtle tobacco characters. Ripe, fleshy textural feel with polished tannins. Concludes with loads of fruit and ample length.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Aromas of currants, sweet tobacco and oyster shell follow through to a medium to full body with firm, creamy tannins and a steely finish. Drink after 2021.
