2019 Brancaia Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva

Podere La Brancaia is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone at Poppi in Radda with its vineyards planted on ideal south facing hillside locations at elevations of between 230-400 metres. Their Chianti Classico Riserva is a selection of their best Sangiovese along with 20% Merlot with the Sangiovese aged in tonneaux for 16 months and the Merlot in barriques.
Totally opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Fragrant spicy dark cherry and red currant aromas meld into earth, tobacco, dried herb, dusty cedar and faint leather notes. Medium bodied red to dark currant and red cherry fruits stretch across the palate with earth, tobacco, dried herb, spicy cedar and leather characters adding complexity. Nicely integrated fine yet robust tannin structure with bright acidity and a long savoury, slightly rustic aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

This has a classic nose of sour cherries, redcurrants, lemon peel, bark and tomato leaves. Medium-bodied with tight-grained tannins and bright acidity. Fresh and light-footed, yet persistent, long and evolving. Very elegant. Drink after 2023.
