2019 Briar Ridge Stockhausen Shiraz
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Nosing offers up meaty scents of black cherry and liquorice trailed by smoky cedar, earth and peppered herb notes. Mid weighted, savoury and bright, spicy red plum and liquorice fruits infused with dried clove meld into smoked meats, spicy vanillin cedar and peppered earth characters. Lively acidity and polished tannins with a long slightly rustic aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.8%
Other Reviews….
This is a fine '19: extract harnessed by inimitable Hunter savouriness, judicious French oak (17% new) and a steady hand. Plenty of whole berries in the mix to impart a juiciness, floral lift and an effusive joy. Sour cherry, Damson plum, baking spice and vanilla pod. Mid weighted, lithe and long, as the tannins expand with air and the acidity tows the flavours. Delicious. Drink by 2028.
