2019 Chateau de Chamirey Clos des Ruelles Monopole Mercurey Premier Cru

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Wafting out of the glass are powerful black cherry and anise scents which are trailed by scorched earth, toasty oak and spice notes. Rich, concentrated and weighty this is very much a full bodied style of Burgundy. Lavish black cherry, liquorice and black plum fruits engulf the mouth with notions of scorched earth, dried herbs and spicy oak lying underneath. Very ripe and powerful it possesses a sturdy yet well integrated tannin structure and concludes with a long lavish black fruited finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
