2019 Chateau de Chamirey En Sazenay Mercurey Premier Cru

Very deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Lifted black cherry and anise aromas overlay scorched earth, black olive and spicy cedar notes. Rich, concentrated flavours of black cherry, dark plum and anise are underscored by bright acidity with some scorched earth, dried herb and spicy cedar elements lingering in the background. Sturdy yet fine grained tannin structure. Solid power with a ripe yet sculptured finish.

The 2019 Mercurey 1er Cru En Sazenay is another fine success, exhibiting aromas of raspberries, plums, spices and violets. Medium to full-bodied, lively and precise, with tangy acids and a saline finish, it's a fine-boned, elegant wine from this steeply sloping site. Drink 2021-2038.
