2019 Craggy Range Te Muna Vineyard Pinot Noir
The Te Muna Road Vineyard is located some 7 kilometres outside of the Martinborough township and consists of two distinct terraces, the higher comprising very old, stony clay-infused soils perfect for Pinot Noir. Made with the inclusion of 30% whole bunch fruit the wine was matured in French oak barriques (25% new) for a period of 10 months.
Very deep dark red black in colour with a dark red hue. Showing a wonderful perfumed like intensity aromas of dark cherries and ripe strawberries infused with violets soar out of the glass. Subtle anise, forest floor, fresh herb and spicy cedar notes ensue to complete a complex aromatic profile. Light to mid weight, rich, seductive dark cherry, strawberry and anise flavours have a fleshy feel with subtlety toasted cedar, infusions of fresh herbs and spicy earth elements lying underneath. Very polished it has a supple tannin structure and concludes long and savoury.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

Other Reviews….
This is not a timid wine. It's rich and round, wearing its brambly, medicinal, earthy, spicy and floral colors loud and proud. The silky mouthfeel is tugged into place by sappy tannins. There's intensity, balance and structure, and a real sense of place. Drink now–2029.
