2019 Curly Flat Chardonnay
Matured for 14 months on lees in French oak (35% new) with 65% of the wine going through malolactic fermentation. Brilliant pale straw colour with subtle flecks of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Refined aromatics of white peach, nectarine and subtle dried honey build in intensity as the wine warms in the glass, complimented by biscuity nougat, citrus, cashew and spice notes. Mid weighted the palate is a marriage of elegance and understated power with generous white peach and nectarine fruits showing good flesh over a dried honey, biscuity oak, citrusy nougat, light cashew and spice back drop. Finishes fresh and focused yet gently creamed with a long aftertaste that’s all class.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 12.7%
Other Reviews….
One of my favourite breakfasts, is a Portuguese tart and an espresso. It used to be a staple for me, when I was living a more healthy lifestyle.
Portuguese tart, spice, grapefruit and lemon zest, maybe some nectarine. It’s a wine characterized by its creamy gloss and nougat, but with a ripcord of electric citrus acidity and tight juicy flavour. Creamy, cinnamon pastry, all the zest and tang, flecked with aniseed, and flinty river pebble things on a long finish. It’s really good, albeit very intense. Drink 2021-2026+
