2019 Derwent Estate Calcaire Chardonnay
Bright pale straw colour with a distinctive greenish tinge around the edges and a watery hue. Pronounced ripe nectarine aromas tangle with grapefruit, dried honey, biscuity oak and gun flint notes. The refined yet concentrated palate is layered with white peach and nectarine fruits which sit over a back drop of biscuity oak, dried honey, nougat and infusions of gun flint. Fleshy textural feel finishing fresh, elegant and long.?
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13.4%
Other Reviews….
Sourced from a single Derwent Valley site planted to I10V1, I10V5 and Penfolds clones. Pale straw with aromas of white peach and citrus fruits cut with hints of crushed stone, soft spice, marzipan, almond blossom and clotted cream. The fruit is stretched taut across a minerally frame and presents with plenty of detail and precision with a long, lemony, vivid finish. Drink by 2031.
