2019 Hubert Lignier Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Domaine Hubert Lignier is one of Burgundy’s finest addresses, producing wines that show profound depth, complexity, and structure with capacity for wonderful development in the cellar. Winemaking is quite traditional, with grapes being de-stemmed and fermented in open-top cement tanks with natural yeasts. Elevage is around 18 months for the Bourgogne and village wines, while the premier and grand cru wines remain in barrel for 20-24 months. All wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
Other Reviews....
This too displays a vague whiff of volatile acidity but it's sufficiently subtle as to essentially be a non-issue on the earthy aromas of dark currant and plum. There is beguiling energy to the delineated and focused middle weight flavors that are not as concentrated but, somewhat surprisingly, they are finer thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the mildly austere and sneaky long finish. Note that my projected range assumes that the VA will remain at its presently very low level. Drink through 2031+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound
Deeper and more structured than the Griotte, Lignier's 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with notes of blackcurrants, cherries, sweet soil tones, wilted rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's ample and voluminous, with velvety tannins, succulent acids and a broad, expansive finish.

Situated in Mazoyères, the 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is well defined on the nose with precise black fruit laced with blueberry and light violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit laced with graphite, quite strict and linear with good grip on the finish. One of the more structured Charmes-Chambertins that you will find in this vintage. Just one barrel made in 2019. Drink 2025-2050.

Neal Martin - Vinous
The plot was bought in 1978 and the vines were old then. One of the deeper colours in the cellar, concentrated floral notes, good acidity, extra weight of fruit, lively with the little mineral touches at the back, sweetly classy, light raspberry notes, absolute purity, with constant waves of flavour.
