2019 Domaine Jacques Carillon Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts Premier Cru
Other Reviews....
Ripe but agreeably cool aromas include those of essence of apple, white peach and plenty of citrus elements. There is a lovely inner mouth perfume to the punchy flavors that manage to be at once powerful yet fine while displaying excellent depth and persistence on the youthfully austere finale. This is really lovely juice that should amply pay mid to even longer-term cellaring. Drink 2029+.

Opening in the glass with notes of peach, citrus oil, white flowers, fresh bread and pastry cream, the 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Réferts is medium to full-bodied, racy and tight-knit, with a concentrated core of fruit, racy acids and a long, chalky finish. This is potentially the finest of Carillon's premiers crus this year.

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru, which comes from 50-year old vines, is the most mineral-driven of Carillon’s Premier Crus with petrichor and wet limestone scents percolating through the green apple scents. The palate is surfeit with energy, real tension from start to finish with a flinty finish that lingers in the mouth. This is very promising. Drink 2025 - 2055.

More of a green tint to the nose and more elegant. Fine filtering soil and lower acidity, but tastes as if it has more. The minerals thread runs all the way through whereas Perrières it is just at the back. Classy fresh finish with some orange blossom showing the ripeness. Referts can handle its alcohol well, even though the finish is on the warm side.
