2019 Gorelli Brunello di Montalcino
Gorelli may be one of the freshest additions to Montalcino's wineries, but its proprietor and winemaker, Giuseppe Gorelli, is far from a newcomer to the area. A native of Montalcino, Giuseppe honed his craft under the tutelage of Sangiovese maestro Giulio Gambelli at the Consorzio di Brunello di Montalcino for fifteen years. Following this, he ventured back to his family's winery, Due Portine, before ultimately founding the esteemed Le Potazzine. In 2017, he went out on his own and secured a lease on six hectares situated north of the town center. These vineyards, positioned in the coolest part of the DOCG at an elevation of 340 meters and oriented towards the northeast, produce sophisticated and exquisitely fragrant Sangiovese.
Other Reviews....
Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Very youthful and lifted with lots of cherry fruit on the nose. Polished, succulent cherry fruit with a thick layer of fine, chewy tannins underneath. Seems ready but needs to lose its puppy fat. (WS)
