2019 Greenock Creek Sparkling Shiraz
An overflowing purple tinged mousse subsides into a pitch black base that has dark red tinged edges and a fine, nibble stream of tiny bubbles coursing through it. Heady dark plum, liquorice, vanillin oak and mocha aromas engulf the nostrils followed by some earthy dark chocolate notes. Rich, dense and opulent, the palate is awash with lavish dark plum, liquorice, blackberry and mocha flavours. A firm tannin structure provides an ample framework with earthy vanillin oak and subtle leather characters lying underneath. The long weighty finish carrying a slightly grippy feel.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews…..
Old-vine Marananga shiraz features here with a purple-tinged hue, a fine, energetic bead and purpley spume. Pure and concentrated blackberry, satsuma plum and blueberry fruits along with hints of spice, blueberry pie, morello cherries, chocolate bullets and purple flowers. Rich, fruit-pure and just a joy to drink, with ripe dark and black fruits, plenty of spice, fine tannins and bright acidity, finishing long and like liquid Christmas cake. And what's not to like about that? Drink by 2035.
