2019 Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Shiraz
A Heathcote institution, Jasper Hill have been producing wines since 1982 when it was established by Ron and Elva Laughton. Today daughters Emily and Georgia continue to work within the business.
Impenetrable black dark purple colour with an equally deep dark purple dark red hue. Heady scents of liquorice, blackberry and black cherry waft from the glass followed by vanillin oak, hints of graphite, dark plum and spicy pepper. Rich, powerful and densely textured, plush blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits are layered across the breadth of the palate underscored by black cherries, vanillin oak, subtle scorched earth, dried herbs and blackpepper. Ripe chewy tannins provide great structure and give the finish a muscular feel. Superb depth of fruit with a very rich, long and robust aftertaste.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc. 15.5%
Other Reviews....
The first rule with Georgia's is to decant. Splash some air into what is a bigger-than-usual year for the well-known Heathcote shiraz. The '19 needs to stretch. You want those trademark pretty florals to step out from behind the wall of black fruits, rich plums, earth and sweet oak spice. Still as captivating as ever and can only improve. Drink by 2032.

Jeni Port - James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion
A stunning mix of concentrated blueberry preserves, salted black licorice, blackberry and huckleberry flavors, with details of black walnut liqueur, malty Assam black tea, smoked paprika and bittersweet chocolate. The tannins are dense and toothsome, but there's polish and refinement present as well, followed by an epic finish. Drink now through 2035.
