This textbook example of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon strikes a perfect balance between rich fruit, structure and drinkability and is consistently one of the best values the region has to offer. Coonawarra’s famous strip of Terra Rossa soli has long been considered to be ideal for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and the 2019 vintage was no exception with optimal ripening conditions delivering medium to full bodied wines with great colour, concentration and tannin structure.
The fruit for this Cabernet was sourced from the Wetherall property - one of Coonawarra's best kept secrets. The family have been growing grapes for the big boys for decades from Terra Rossa blocks in the heart of Coonawarra, and the big boys have been happily making exceptional Coonawarra Reds without even a whisper as to where the grapes have come from!

Displays all the traits of classic Coonawarra Cabernet.

Midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Engulfing the olfactory senses are attractive scents of ripe blackcurrant and mulberry which meld into cedary tobacco characters, subtle spicy earth and bay leaf notes. The mid weighted palate features a generous array of blackcurrant, plum and mulberry fruits over a back drop of cedary tobacco characters, earth and infusions of bay leaf. Ample richness partners well with Coonawarra’s renown depth and refinement. Nicely integrated fine grained tannins and balanced acidity with an aftertaste that’s long, savoury and spicy.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
